Ruth Ann Brehmer, age 88, of Wells, MN, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN. A funeral service will be held at Wells United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM, with Pastor Paul Woolverton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to the Wells United Methodist Church, or American Cancer Society.
Ruth Ann was born June 3, 1928, in Lake City, MN the daughter of Hugo Emmanuel and Nora Judith (Andrews) Lindblom. Ruth graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1946. After high school she attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She became a dental assistant and worked for Dr. Campion, D.D.S. in Lake City for 2 ½ years. In 1947, Ruth took 2nd place in the Lake City Pageant. She was united in marriage to Helmuth Lester "Les" Brehmer on May 21, 1950 in Lake City, MN. In 1955, the couple made their home in Wells, MN. Ruth was involved in UMW, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Prayer Chain throughout the years. Ruth was a supportive community member, serving as a Campfire Leader and always willing to help friends and neighbors. She was a great homemaker and was known for her chocolate chip cookies. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Les; and brothers, Hugo Richard Lindblom and John Anders Lindblom.
She is survived by her six children: Steve (Linda) Brehmer of Minneapolis, MN, Kathryn Brehmer of Bellingham, WA, Debra (Barry) Schull of Duluth, MN, Julie Brehmer of Northfield, MN, David (Karen) Brehmer of Bremerton, WA, and Suki (Mike) Zellgert of St. Cloud, MN; 11 grandchildren: Sarah (Greg) Michna of Brookings, SD, David (Nissa) Brehmer of Richmond, CA, Nora Schull of Minneapolis, MN, Leah (Matt) Grams of Eagle Lake, MN, Melissia Schull of Brooklyn, NY, Thomas and Emma Brehmer of Bremerton, WA, Hannah France of St. Paul, MN, Anne France of Northfield, MN, and Andrew and Jonathan Zellgert of St. Cloud, MN; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lola Lindblom; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and their families.
A sincere thank you to their friends and neighbors, Arlys Schroeder and Leroy and Joyce Giese, along with all the caregivers at Ecumen Pathstone Living, and MCHS Mankato Hospice.
