Robert Joel "Rockman" Barnes, age 57, of Bricelyn, MN, died suddenly at home Monday, March 30, 2015.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn. Interment will be in Clayton Cemetery in Bricelyn at a later date. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Bricelyn is in charge of arrangements.
Rob was born June 8, 1957, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, the son of Robert and Judith (Ackerman) Barnes. He graduated from Eldora High school in 1976, and attended William Penn College at Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was very active in high school and college sports. After his schooling, the family moved to Loveland, CO where he was engaged in dry walling and construction work. Rob also worked at the Nyack gold mine in Nyack, Alaska. Rob moved to rural Bricelyn in 1998 where he made his home. He was an active member of Farming of Yesteryear. Among his many interests were rock sculpture and photography. He was also active in local pool and dart leagues of which his favorite venue was Vinje, IA.
Rob is survived by his mother Judy of Bricelyn, sister, Jaime (Doug) Ferguson of Lake Arrowhead, CA; 3 nephews: Jordan, David and Braden Ferguson of Lake Arrowhead, CA; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert, and 2 brothers: Craig and Daniel Barnes.
